Berlin-based GRID, the esports technology and data platform, is partnering with Swedish esports organisation GODSENT ahead of DreamHack Open Winter 2019.
The partnership will see GRID’s logo feature on GODSENT players’ jerseys for the DreamHack Open Winter at Jönköping – the first Swedish tournament since GODSENT was resurrected in September, following its merger with The Final Tribe (read more).
Notably, it is the first time GRID has partnered with an esports team – it usually enters deals with tournament organisers and publishers. The company says it will help the team leverage the available data and assets to improve its sponsorship proposition and brand positioning.
Under the agreement both GODSENT and GRID will be able to benefit from GRID’s sponsorship inventory, which includes data-driven social content – in a similar way to GRID’s partnership with StarLadder at the recent CS:GO Major.
The partnership will also see GRID create GODSENT’s new website, featuring multiple live data components and promising improved fan engagement.
Discussing the partnership VP of Business Development at GRID Esports, Mikael Westerling, explained:
“We are very excited about the partnership and the rebirth of Godsent – one of the premium Swedish esport brands. Through the partnership we will be working closely with GODSENT to enhance the org’s sponsorship activations and revenue, as well as working to improve supporter experiences by making the Godsent website a premium viewing destination for their fans.”
While CEO and Co-founder of GODSENT, Ludwig Sandgren, added:
“I am really happy for this partnership as it will enable us to in collaboration with GRID build a sophisticated sponsor marketing product that is really worth its coin which also will satisfy our need for a great web page for fans. And I cannot think of a better way to launch this important partnership than with a Dreamhack LAN tournament in Sweden.”
