NRG Esports’ Call of Duty League franchise Chicago Huntsmen has partnered with iconic lighter brand Zippo.
The collaboration will see Zippo launch a collection of hand warmers featuring Chicago Huntsmen branding, with a merch drop also slated for later this year. NRG first teamed up with Zippo in November last year, when it was announced the organisation’s Apex Legends players would be promoting the company’s rechargeable hand warmer.
According to Zippo, its rechargeable handwarmers are a better alternative to the dozens of disposable hand warmers players used to use during matches, and help maintain the fastest reaction times. The company says its HeatBank 9 model can maintain performance for up to 9 hours, and also doubles as a portable charger.
Commenting on the deal President of NRG Esports, Brett Lautenback, said:
“We’re super excited to continue our relationship with Zippo. We saw great success working with them on NRG and look forward to introducing them to the HUNTSMEN and CDL Fanbase!”
While Senior Director of Integrated Marketing Communications at Zippo, William Kolasa, added:
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with NRG in 2020 and take Zippo’s commitment to esports to the next level by building on the excitement, exclusive content, and success we had in our recent pairing with NRG’s Apex Legends team.
“NRG’s Chicago Huntsmen team boasts some of the best players in the Call of Duty League, and all of gaming right now – Scump, Formal, Gunless, Envoy and Arcitys – we’re honored to be working with these elite, fan-favourite players to launch limited edition NRG x Zippo HeatBank 9s Rechargeable Hand Warmers.”
Chicago Huntsmen also has commercial deals in place with energy drink brand MTN DEW AMP GAME FUEL, footwear cleaning brand Crep Protect, and gaming peripherals brand Turtle Beach.
AYO.NEWS says:
We think its safe to assume Zippo was pleased with the results from its NRG Apex Legends collaboration, and it’s clear Chicago Huntsmen is quickly emerging as one of the most high-profile CDL franchises in terms of commercial reach. With smoking fast falling out of favour, it’s also interesting to see Zippo explore new markets for its historic brand.
