Major US daily fantasy sports and sports betting provider DraftKings has launched a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive daily fantasy game.

Though the operators is usually associated more with traditional sports like the National Basketball Association (NBA) ,Major League Baseball (MLB), and National Football League (NFL), the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis has forced the company to turn its attention to esports, in a big way.

DraftKings has already launched daily fantasy games for both Rocket League and League of Legends, and adding the hugely popular CS:GO to its line-up will open up a considerable new market.

With so many traditional sports betting operators turning their attention to esports due to the coronavirus crisis, are we seeing the start of the much speculated esports revolution? The answer to that probably lies in exactly how long this crisis drags on for.

If traditional sports are back on in the next month or so, the enthusiasm for esports among the mainstream may well wane quite quickly, but if the crisis lasts six months or more, as even the UK government has now suggested, there must be a strong chance that the migration to esports will retain some permanence.
