Beasley Media Group’s Overwatch League franchise Houston Outlaws makes a key promotion, and helps fight against COVID-19 with Gaming Together initiative.
Mike White promoted
White has previously been serving as Operations and IT Manager for the Outlaws, but will now be overseeing the organisation’s standards, procedures, and operations.
His relationship with the Houston Outlaws dates back to November 2017, when he was recruited by former owner Infinite Esports and Entertainment.
Infinite was later sold to Immortals Gaming Club, while Houston Outlaws was acquired by Florida-based Beasley Media Group, which is also invested in Detroit-based esports organisation Renegades, and syndicated esports lifestyle show CheckpointXP.
Commenting on the promotion COO of Beasley Esports, Lori Burgess, said:
“Mike is an extremely strong and valued member of our team. We look forward to him having more direct and consistent interface and collaboration with the entire staff as we continue to grow the organization.”
While White himself added:
“It has been an honor getting to work with Beasley Esports over the last few months. The company has given us the resources to make our future events and initiatives even more exciting and engaging for Houston Outlaws fans.
“I am thrilled to continue working alongside Chief Operating Officer Lori Burgess and the team in my new role and look forward to everything in store for the team in 2020 and beyond!”
Gaming Together to fight COVID-19
Earlier this month the Houston Outlaws, in partnership with the Harris County – Houston Sports Authority and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® (CMN Hospitals), launched the #GamingTogether initiative to encourage families to play at home during the COVID-19 crisis.
The initiative, which launched on 9 April, is intended to promote gaming and family interaction across Houston, San Antonio, and Austin, and features some of the area’s most prominent names in esports, arts, sports, media and music.
Proceeds will benefit Extra Life, CMN Hospitals’ fundraising initiative within the gaming community. Locally, it will help the Texas Children’s Hospital to purchase protective equipment and extra ventilators to care for the anticipated influx of COVID-19 patients, as well as fund charitable care for families and child life resources, virtual care to enable patients to recover at home, and research into COVID-19 cures and treatments.
