The Litecoin Foundation has confirmed it will be migrating from the multi-sig Electrum-LTC wallet to BitGo’s multi-sig wallet.
In an official statement, the Foundation said it was making the change because BitGo’s wallet provided a similar level of security, but “greater convenience.”
Old Electrum-LTC addresses will stay live online for a month, with new BitGo wallet addresses to be published shortly, but the Foundation has asked all donors to stop using the old addresses immediately.
The news pushed Litecoin (LTC) price higher initially, before the crypto was hit by a downturn driven by the pre-halving Bitcoin (BTC) dump.
Staying with Litecoin, the foundation also gave a progress report on the crypto codebases’ Mimblewimble integration, confirming that a testing framework was up and integration had begun. It is expected to be running in the Litecoin testnet before summer is out.
