ARISTOCRAT TAKES ON NEW $500M LOAN TO SHORE UP BALANCE

Published

on

Australian games provider Aristocrat Leisure Limited has announced it priced a new US$ 500m Term Loan B facility that will mature in October 2024.

At the end of April we reported that Aristocrat had “stood down” 1,000 staff, mainly from its land-based sales, services and manufacturing operations, due to the COVID-19 crisis. The dividend for the 2020 financial year was also suspended.

According to the company, the new loan, which is expected to be settled by 21 May, will help preserve its balance sheet metrics, and will be used for general corporate purposes.

Aristocrat says invested support the loan, which was priced with a margin of 375 basis points, and will leave the company’s debt at approximately US$2.35 billion.

Discussing the news Aristocrat CFO, Julie Cameron-Doe, said:

“The TLB market continues to provide Aristocrat with flexibility and competitively priced debt on a covenant light basis, and we are grateful for the ongoing support of this important debt market.”

AYO.NEWS says:

While its positive news that Aristocrat has been able to secure the financing it needs to shore up its balance sheet, there’s no denying that’s an intimidating debt burden! As we speculated previously, we’re sure this crisis will lead to Aristocrat pivoting more towards its online businesses like Big Fish and Plarium.

Games provider and social casino operator Design Works Gaming (DWG) has announced its first direct integration with a UK operator after partnering with Betfred.

Twelve DWG titles will be offered on Betfred’s recently relaunched Vegas tab, with another eight available on Betfred’s Games site.

“Our portfolio has already proven itself commercially in both land-based and social casinos, so we are able to provide the very best content to our partners. We look forward to an enjoyable and lengthy partnership with Betfred as a result.”

While Head of eGaming at Betfred, Andy Horne, added:

“DWG has a portfolio of content that has already been rigorously tested and enjoyed by millions of players. It also has a rich Las Vegas heritage, so the fit of the games for our new Vegas site couldn’t be better.

“We have plans to significantly scale up the number of DWG games in the coming months, so this marks the start of an exciting journey for both of us and we’re delighted to be able to share these games with our customers.”

DWG has developed land-based slots for some of the industry’s biggest suppliers, including Novomatic, Aristocrat, and IGT, and operates several of its own social casinos.

AYO.NEWS says:

It’s no surprise to see Betfred, which has traditionally been highly reliant on sports betting, expanding its non-sports iGaming offering in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

Over the next few months we expect many more bookies will be pouring additional resources into beefing up their non-sports products, in an effort to make their businesses more resilient.

MGA TAPS 80’S SEX APPEAL & NOSTALGIA WITH SAMANTHA FOX SLOT

Published

on

MGA Games is playing on 1980’s sex appeal with its latest hyperrealistic offering, Samantha Fox.

The Spanish games developer has created a new slot starring the famous 80’s English teen idol, singer, actress and model. With a distinctly retro visual vibe, this title is aiming straight at the 40+ demographic, combining sex appeal and nostalgia.

Samantha was catapulted to fame by her song “Touch Me”, which hit the top spots in the UK and UK, along with 15 other countries worldwide, achieving 24 platinum, gold, and silver records. Of course, she’s also fondly remembered for her Page 3 appearances in British tabloids.

Earlier this month MGA Games released another sexy slot appealing to a distinctly different generation, featuring social media star Jessica Weaver, while in March it released a title featuring the “Queen of Instagram”, Abigail Ratchford

Staying with MGA Games, last week we reported the company’s line-up had gone live in Mexico through Betway.mx, the country’s most popular gaming platform.

AYO.NEWS says:

MGA are certainly splashing some cash developing these hyper-realistic, officially licensed titles, but will they have more than a passing appeal? Will the age old adage “sex sells” prove applicable to the world of slots, and will the social media stars manage to tempt younger generations to spend money on slots?

While we’re here, let’s not forget Samantha Fox’s finest moment – her appearance on Roland Rat: The Series, at the height of her career in the 1980s.

GiG is an important strategic partner for us, we look forward to continuing to work with them to bring industry-leading technology to the sector.”

AYO.NEWS says:

There’s no doubt that the online poker product has improved dramatically over the past few years, and the COVID-19 sports shutdown has given it a boost as operators search for alternatives to keep customers engaged. Will it last into the post-COVID-19 world though?

Staying with online poker, last month we caught up with Dmitry Starostenkov, CEO of EvenBet Gaming, to find out how the crisis was affecting business.
