Paris Saint-Germain F.C.’s esports division has partnered with Talon Esports to compete in the League of Legends Pacific Championship Series. 

The deal will see a co-branded team called PSG Talon, similar to PSG.LGD which competes in Dota 2 in China, with both organisations continuing to handle commercial partnerships and regional content creation. 

Discussing the partnership, Brand Diversification and Merchandising Director at Paris Saint-Germain, Fabien Allegre, said:

“As a young and tremendously ambitious organisation, PSG naturally saw Talon as a fitting partner. Whilst this partnership undoubtedly strengthens the Paris Saint-Germain brand visibility in our key markets, and in front of non-traditional football audiences across the globe, we are confident in building a viable Esports business within its own right.”

While CEO of Talon Esports, Sean Zhang, added:

 “We recognize that our fans appreciate performance above anything else, so to partner with a club with the history and pedigree of PSG means taking our game to new levels. We are super excited for the journey ahead and look forward to the success we can create together”

PSG Talon will continue to compete as one of the ten inaugural teams in the PCS, which spans Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. 

Though Talon only started competing in League of Legends in late 2019, it has already enjoyed notable success, winning the PCS Spring Split. It also competes in Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, TEKKEN, and Street Fighter. 

The formation of PSG Talon also marks the return of PSG to League of Legends, after disbanding its European roster back in 2017, when they failed to qualify for the top European league, and took issue with the revenue sharing model Riot Games was pushing at the time.
