Digital Isle of Man has appointed Chris Kissack as Head of Esports.

A division of the Department of Enterprise for the Isle of Man, Digital Isle of Man is focused on building the digital sector in the self-governing British Crown Dependency. 

From 3 August, Kissack will be working within the agency to develop an esports proposition for the tiny island, which already has a substantial iGaming, blockchain, and emerging tech sector. 

Kissack was previously Esports Specialist at Isle of Man-based Amber Gaming – a provider of corporate accounting, regulatory compliance, and licensing services for the gaming and esports industries. Before joining Amber, he spent two decades in IT, computing, operations, sales, and marketing.

Commenting on the news CEO of Digital Isle of Man, Lyle Wraxall, said:

“I am very pleased to welcome Chris to our team. It was vital that we found the right candidate to drive forward this new, exciting venture for the Island, and Chris’ experience in the sector, expert knowledge, and enthusiasm for our esports proposition made him a perfect fit for the role.”

While Kissack himself added:

“I am looking forward to continuing my work in raising the Island’s profile within the esports space. My time at Amber has been a very positive experience and I’m very grateful to both Ted and the team for giving me the opportunity to help them create the Island’s first dedicated service offerings for the esports industry.

“As a proud Manxman it is a great feeling to join the Digital Agency to partner with local businesses and institutions to deliver the island’s esports strategy, embrace this thriving new industry and help grow this exciting new sector for the Island.”

With the Isle of Man already home to a thriving digital gaming and high-tech sector, including esports specialists like Luckbox, it seems like a no brainer for the government to put together a cohesive proposition to attract more esports companies.

Last year Digital Isle of Man also opened a dedicated blockchain office, to act as a consultancy, education, and research hub for both businesses and regulators.
