Recreational league esports programs company Mission Control has secured $1.75m USD in a funding round led by Dundee Venture Capital. 

Founded by Austin Smith, Byron Abrigg, and Brandon Smith in October 2018, St. Louis-based Mission Control collaborates with schools, community centres, and companies to build esports programs in local communities. 

To-date Mission Control has partnered with companies and organisations including GameStop and Minnesota ROKKR, as well as Duke, MIT, Dallas’ Parks and Rec department, and the Special Olympics in New York and Oregon. 

The funding round also attracted participation from M25, Cultivation Capital, and MATH Venture Partners. 

Commenting on the news CEO and Founder of Mission Control, Austin Smith, said:

“I grew up playing video games with my brother and my friends as a way to spend time together. For us, it was a social activity meant to gather communities just like traditional rec league sports. With this funding, we are excited to bring the structure of traditional rec leagues and the excitement of esports to social gamers and their communities across the country.”

While Partner at Dundee Venture Capital, David Mann, added:
