UFC ENTERS CHINESE ESPORTS SCENE WITH PEACEKEEPER ELITE PARTNERSHIP
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has entered a strategic partnership with Versus Programming Network’s (VSPN) Peacekeeper Elite League (PEL) in China.
PEL is the official league for Game of Peace/Peacekeeper Elite – a modified version of Tencent’s PUBG Mobile shooter. The partnership marks UFC’s entry into the Chinese esports scene, and will include various activations.
The second season of the Peacekeeper Elite League, which is also sponsored by smartphone brand OPPO, started on Friday 24 July and is set to run through 23 August.
Though Game of Peace/Peacekeeper Elite is built around the same battle royale gameplay as PUBG Mobile, developers had to alter the content to achieve Chinese certification required for monetisation in the country.
AYO.NEWS says:
Jumping into the massive Chinese esports scene is a pretty big move for UFC, and shows how serious it now takes esports. Staying with UFC, earlier this month the organisation renewed its partnership with online sportsbook Parimatch.
And, while we’re talking Parimatch and esports, just last week the operator appointed its first ever esports brand ambassador, in the form of Counter-Strike legend Daniil “Zeus” Teslenko.
