CAESARS ENTERTAINMENT IN TALKS WITH WITH WILLIAM HILL OVER $3.72BN ACQUISITION

Caesars Entertainment is in advanced talks to acquire British betting giant William Hill for $3.72bn.

William Hill has confirmed it received two proposals, from Caesars and Apollo Management, though it stressed no formal offer has yet been made. Under UK acquisition rules, any offer will need to be made by 23 October.

Apparently, Caesars has said that if William Hill accepts an offer from Apollo, it will sever its existing ties with the operator.

Commenting on the proposal Caesars Entertainment CEO, Tom Reeg, said:

“The opportunity to combine our land based-casinos, sports betting and online gaming in the US is a truly exciting prospect. William Hill’s sports betting expertise will complement Caesars’ current offering, enabling the combined group to better serve our customers in the fast growing US sports betting and online market.”

AYO.NEWS says:

If Caesars Entertainment does manage to acquire William Hill, it’s going to create a formidable new global gambling force, and significantly expand Caesar’s reach in the pivotal online sector. As we’ve said before, the rapidly regulating US betting markets are going to see a clash of epic proportions between the new post-Eldorado merger Caesars Entertainment and MGM/GVC’s Roar Digital
