DRAFTKINGS & PEERMONT LAUNCH NEW SOUTH AFRICAN SPORTSBOOK

DraftKings has announced the launch of a South African mobile and online sportsbook, in partnership with Peermont Hotels, Gaming and Resorts.

The South African hospitality group will use DraftKings B2B sportsbook and platform solution to underpin its first online sports betting offering, PalaceBet. Users will benefit from special features like Your Bet and Pulse Betting, while data integrations with Betgenius and IMG will offer the chance to bet on both South African and international sports, including cricket, football, tennis, and rugby, along with Lucky Numbers.

Discussing the partnership, DraftKings chief international officer, Shay Berka, said:

“This collaboration brings together two organizations committed to providing South Africa’s sports fans with the most dynamic and innovative sports betting experience.

“We are delighted that DraftKings’ B2B technology is powering Peermont’s entry into sports betting, through which they can provide their customers with extensive markets, live betting opportunities, competitive pricing and localised payment options.”

While Peermont CEO, Nigel Atherton, added:

“Peermont has always been at the forefront of the latest trends and technology, therefore it made sense to partner with DraftKings as a leader in sports betting software. “Together we’ll be able to offer a product that lives up to our high standards, and that provides a superior betting experience.”

Staying with DraftKings, last week the operator became the latest to join the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), in a move that also gives its clients across US and international markets access to the IBIA monitoring and alert platform.

AYO.NEWS says:

While there’s a strong gambling industry in South Africa, the major land-based operators have been somewhat slow to effectively harness mobile and online markets but, at least in Peermont’s case, the DraftKings partnership will give them a world-class platform right from the get go. This could prove critical to business sustainability as the COVID-19 crisis drags on and continues to threaten the viability of land-based operations globally.
