Esports personality Susie Kim has announced the launch of her own crypto fan token, SUSIE. 

SUSIE is based on blockchain platform Rally, which allows creators to easily launch their own fan tokens to sell to fans in exchange for personalised rewards and engagement opportunities.

Kim, who is well-known in the esports world, having served as general manager for London Spitfire, helped develop Cloud9’s Training Grounds, and as part of the University of California Irvine Esports Leadership Board, will also be acting as an advisor to Rally as it looks to attract more personalities from the gaming and esports communities. 

Regarding the token project, Kim said: 

“Rally empowers creators, gamers and personalities like myself to re-imagine community management as an opportunity to tap into an entirely new revenue model by simply interacting with our fans. I am excited to experiment with my own token, while also spreading the word to the esports community.”

Gen.G Esports founder Kevin Chou is behind the Rally.io startup, and as reported in October, Gen.G has already launched a CS:GO crypto fan token called the GG Strike Coin. 

In addition to issuing its own native Rally Token (RLY), so far, the platform has signed nearly 30 gamers, creators, celebrities, and crypto influencers, including  streaming house DTQ, Grammy Award-winning Alaskan band Portugal the Man, Twitch streamer Alliestrasza, gamer FanHOTS, footballer Keisuke Honda, and brand platform PlatformPro. 

The platform has attracted funding from several VC firms, including Andreesen Horowitz, Canaan, Battery Ventures, and Green Bay Ventures.

While the concept of fan tokens isn’t new, Rally’s approach is noticeably different from other platforms like Socios.com, being much looser and more ambiguous. The question is, whereas on platforms like Socios.com fans know what kind of benefits they will enjoy from amassing tokens, will Rally’s more wishy washy approach convince people to buy-in?
