ENTAIN IN ACQUISITION TALKS WITH TABCORP DOWN UNDER
British gambling giant Entain has made a non-binding indicative offer to acquire the wagering and media business of Australia-based Tabcorp Holdings Ltd.
Rumours regarding a possible acquisition had been circulating, but Entain has now confirmed it is in early stage discussions with the Aussie company.
Entain is pursuing a strategy of expanding across regulated international markets, so the acquisition of Tabcorp’s wagering & media division, which contributes almost 40% of Tabcorp’s revenue, and holds a 43% market share in the country’s horse racing and sports betting market, would be a logical move.
Despite both Entain and Tabcorp stressing talks are at an early stage and no transaction has been agreed, Tabcorp’s shares surged 9% on the news.
In January, Entertain appointed Jette Nygaard-Andersen as its new CEO, replacing Shay Segev, who delivered a surprise resignation earlier in the month.

CHINESE SPORTS LOTTERY OPERATOR 500.COM ORDERS 5,900 BITCOIN MINING MACHINES
Chinese sports lottery operator 500.com has ordered 5,900 Bitcoin (BTC) mining machines, worth approximately RMB55.2M (around $8.5M USD).
500.com announced its intention to purchase Bitcoin miners last month, and expects the new machines to be delivered in the second quarter of 2021. An initial agreement to purchase another 10,000 machines this year has also been signed, though the specific conditions are subject to change.
The Bitcoin mining machine deal will see 500.com pay a performance bond of RMB2,000 per machine for the first 5,000 machines, equating to RMB10M (approx. $1.5M) in total. Revenues are expected to be generated from Bitcoin mining efforts within the first half of 2021.
500.com Limited offers a comprehensive suite of online lottery services, information, user tools, and virtual community venues to its users, and was among the first companies to provide online lottery services in China. It is one of just two entities to have been approved by the Ministry of Finance to provide online lottery sales service on behalf of China Sports Lottery Administration Center.
The company’s Malta-based subsidiary, The Multi Group, has a strong presence in the lucrative Nordic online gambling market .
AYO.NEWS says:
With the long-term outlook for Bitcoin looking good, it makes perfect sense for any large business, no matter which sectors they operate in, to consider investing in their own mining capabilities. Will we see more large operators follow 500.com’s lead over the coming year?

ESPORTS-FIRST OPERATOR LUCKBOX ADDS SPORTS BETTING IN TIME FOR SUPER BOWL WEEKEND
Esports-first gaming operator Luckbox has added sports betting to its line-up, via an expanded partnership with EveryMatrix.
The partnership between Isle of Man-based Luckbox and EveryMatrix began back in 2019, when the operator launched esports betting with OddsMatrix, the supplier’s competitive sportsbook platform.
Now, Luckbox is adding over 105 traditional sports, with 85,000 pre-match events, 70,000 live events, and 450 types of bets, available each month. Sports fans will also be able to enjoy features like bet builder and cash out.
In December 2020, Real Luck Group Ltd, parent company of Luckbox, began trading on the TSX Venture Exchange in Toronto, Canada.
Discussing the launch of traditional sports betting, Real Luck Group Ltd. CEO, Quentin Martin, said:
“The timing of this announcement could not have been better as the Super Bowl, the largest sporting event in the United States and a top 5 event globally, gets underway this week. Our partnership with EveryMatrix allows us to roll out the functionality with the Australian Open tennis and rugby union’s Six Nations on to the Luckbox platform following Super Bowl LV.
“Luckbox is a world-leading destination for esports betting, but we know most of our players also love traditional sports. This new functionality means they can bet on hugely popular sports such as soccer, basketball and hockey from the convenience of Luckbox – a single and secure platform that now integrates esports and traditional sports betting. On behalf of Luckbox, I want to thank EveryMatrix for helping us integrate traditional sports betting into the Luckbox platform.”
While Group CEO of EveryMatrix, Ebbe Groes, added:
“The team here at EveryMatrix is very happy for Luckbox’s progress. Our partnership has proven to be a success story and our excellence within esports absolutely owes a great deal to working with Luckbox. Adding live sports will help address a broader audience, bring over more punters and introduce them to this new and exciting world of esports while providing some diversity.”
AYO.NEWS says:
While everyone is well used to seeing traditional sports betting operators expand into esports, it’s unusual to see an esports-first operator add a traditional sports offering, so Luckbox is something of a trailblazer.
We know that, even during the COVID-19 crisis it has been tough to persuade traditional sports bettings to try esports betting, so it will be interesting to see if Luckbox manages to tempt its existing esports bettors to take a punt on traditional sports, or if it will be mainly drawing in a new crowd.

Sports data and content specialists Betegy has entered a global innovation partnership with betting operator Parimatch.
The collaboration will see Parimatch harness Betegy’s in-house technology to fully automate its internal marketing processes. The proprietary automated content general platform will allow the operator to instantly generate personalised content and campaigns on a daily basis, bespoke to each customer.
Betegy’s platform uses machine learning algorithms to turn complex sports data and odds, from a variety of feeds, into engaging graphics, animations, banners, widgets, and texts, with unprecedented speed and efficiency.
Initially, the platform will be rolled out for Parimatch’s football-based betting across 15+ major leagues, giving the operator’s marketing team the ability to generate and deploy banners, landing pages, videos, and graphics in a matter of seconds.
All content is automatically legislation-compliant, with updated graphics including kits, players, and logos where possible, and Parimatch will be able to deploy marketing campaigns across chosen markets without the need to tailor each campaign on a regional scale.
Parimatch says the deployment of the platform has already transformed its marketing teams approach to work, resulting in a 3-day turna time for an event-based campaign with 200+ banner formats now generated in 120 seconds.
Discussing the partnership Managing Director of Betegy, Alex Kornilov, said:
“Our automated content and data platform is one-of-a-kind – and with one click of the button, Parimatch’s marketing teams are now able to create innovative, personalised campaigns in a matter of seconds – rather than the usual timeframe of two or three days.
“Tailored content is the key battleground within the betting and gaming industry and this innovation process initiated between Betegy and Parimatch is going to take personalisation to an entirely new level.
“We’re unique in what we’re able to offer our clients, and I am confident that as Parimatch adopts our product, we’re going to be able to radically transform the quality of their delivery – not only by giving them the ability to revolutionise their workload – but also by freeing up their teams to focus on the creative side of promotions and campaigns.”
While CEO at Parimatch, Sergey Portnov, added:
“Parimatch is an innovative betting operator that constantly integrates advanced technologies to improve user experience and enhance internal processes.
“Thanks to the strong marketing, the Parimatch brand is becoming recognisable worldwide. Our partnership with Betegy will help us optimise marketing processes and enter new international markets.”
Staying with Betegy, in December 2020, the com[any announced a partnership with betting content provider Betbazar.
AYO.NEWS says:
As anyone who’s working in a marketing department knows, creating content in the myriad of different formats required for a successful campaign is daunting and time consuming, so Betegy’s platform is potentially game-changing for operators like Parimatch.

US-based Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) operator StatHero has announced the launch of Rivals, the first ever Digital Fantasy Sportsbook.
The new, first-of-its-kind DFS game format allows users to play 1-on-1 against the House (StatHero), without requiring users to play within a larger group.
The structure of the game mimics a true sportsbook, with no edits, time stamps, and dynamic odds. Players just set their buy-in and create the best line-up under the salary cap to beat StatHero’s line-up.
Currently Rivals is offering live games for the NBA, PGA, NHL, and NFL playoffs, and is available in the 32 US states in which StatHero operates – offering a skill-based sportsbook experience in states where sports betting is not yet lega, like California, Texas, and Florida.
Discussing the new product StatHero CEO, Jason Jaramillo, said:
“For years, DFS players have yearned for an opportunity to control their own fate. A game focused on the individual, rather than beating thousands. A 1-on-1 game versus the House creates an experience that operates just like a sportsbook, giving users in states where betting isn’t legal the experience that they’ve been clamoring for.
“We at StatHero are excited to provide our users with the most innovative DFS platform on the market that provides greater value, more opportunities to win, and an enhanced experience that will reshape the future of DFS.”
