LAFC GAMING JOINS FORCES WITH MCDONALD’S IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

LAFC Gaming, the esports division of Los Angeles Football Club, has announced a partnership with McDonald’s Southern California

McDonald’s SoCal has been a partner of LAFC since 2018, but this agreement represents the first sponsorship of the club’s gaming division.

The collaboration, which kicks off in parallel with the start of eMLS’ 2021 season, makes McDonald’s an official marketing partner of LAFC Gaming, and presenting partner for the club’s new gaming room at its LAFC business headquarters in Los Angeles.

Discussing the news, association president of the local McDonald’s franchisee group, Richard Shalhoub, said:

“Through this partnership with LAFC Gaming, McDonald’s of Southern California will provide the support needed to bolster the local gaming community while also expanding the soccer fan base throughout Los Angeles.

“We’re thrilled to support our partners at LAFC and LAFC Gaming with the new cutting-edge gaming room.”

While Co-President of Los Angeles Football Club, Larry Freedman, added:

“We are so excited to introduce our great partner McDonald’s of Southern California to the eMLS and LAFC gaming space.

“McDonald’s is an industry leader who shares our vision of expanding the Black & Gold fanbase digitally and supports our efforts to advance the game of soccer in Los Angeles.”

In January international esports organisation Gen.G teamed up with McDonald’s franchises across Los Angeles, San Diego, and Palm Springs, to organise a series of esports initiatives for both employees and customers.

AYO.NEWS says:

Considering we’re only just over a month into 2021, and already we’ve seen SoCal McDonald’s franchises launch two esports partnerships, we’d say someone on the senior executive team has finally taken notice of how big esports now is. We expect to see more fast food-esports partnerships in the state over the coming year, and probably from McDonald’s competitors too.
