UNCOMFORTABLE QUESTIONS? EVOLUTION’S MONOPOLY LIVE LAUNCHES ON WINK PLATFORM

Evolution Gaming’s Monopoly Live has launched on Wink, the TRON-powered gambling platform owned by Justin Sun.

Wink, formerly known as TRONbet, is a DApp based on the TRC20 WIN token, that offers online gambling.

Right now, though it seems Wink does have a Curacao gaming license, senior industry sources have raised concerns about the platform’s KYC (Know Your Customer) or AML (Anti-Money Laundering) policies and standards.

Evolution Gaming has licenses from the UK, Malta and Alderney, and is one of the world’s biggest and most respected live casino providers, but it seems to be supplying a platform with questionable KYC and AML practices. Of course, it’s not just Evolution. For example, Wink also offers games from UK and Malta-licensed slot games supplier NetEnt.

Though we are not suggesting either Evolution or NetEnt are breaking any specific rules or laws, surely the situation must raise some awkward questions. If those brands are willing to be associated with a non-compliant platform, that doesn’t adhere to the same high standards as traditional licensed operators, then does it not undermine the value of those licenses, and does it not smack of double-standards?

Sources in Malta also suggest Wink may be seeking a gaming license from the Malta Gaming Authority – which, given the way the platform is already operating, would surely make a complete mockery of the MGA if they were to grant one.
