ESPN ANNOUNCES DAILY US SPORTS BETTING SHOW WITH DOUG KEZIRIAN

Sports network ESPN has signalled it believes sports betting has a bright future in the United States by announcing its first ever gambling-themed series, ‘Daily Wager.’

A news and information show focused on point spreads and money lines, Daily Wager will be hosted by well-known betting analyst Doug Kezirian, who currently hosts podcast ‘Behind the Bets’.

The new series will air on ESPNews every day between 18:00 and 19:00 ET, starting on 11th March.

Discussing the new show ESPN executive vice president and executive editor, Studio Production, Norby Williamson, said: “ESPN’s mission is to serve sports fans. The sports betting environment has changed and interest is increasing at unprecedented levels. ESPN is going to have a strong and vibrant presence across our platforms, and the launch of Daily Wager is the next step in what has already been underway for some time.”

Though ESPN, ESPN+ and ESPN.com have previously featured gambling-themed content, this is the first time the network has dedicated a whole series to the subject.

Fox Sports 1 was faster to recognise the demand for dedicated gambling programming though, launching ‘Lock It In’ way back in August 2018.

AYO.NEWS says:

When we see major networks like ESPN start dedicating hour-long daily programming to sports betting, it’s a sure sign that they believe it is going to be huge in the United States. As we predicted when the Supreme Court declared PASPA unconstitutional in May 2018, once the sports betting ball got rolling stateside, it would grow exponentially – slowly to start with, but before most realised it things would get huge. The willingness of both Paddy Power Betfair and William Hill to absorb significant losses in the short to medium term, in order to build powerful footholds in the US also reinforces this. Mark our words; “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”
