ESPORTS GET ANOTHER DOSE OF CAFFEINE, WITH DREAMHACK STREAMING DEAL

Esports tournament organiser DreamHack signs non-exclusive global streaming deal with 21st Century Fox-backed streaming platform Caffeine.

Esports tournament organiser DreamHack has signed a non-exclusive global streaming deal with 21st Century Fox-backed streaming platform Caffeine.

The agreement covers the livestreaming of all Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 DreamHack events, plus an original show called ‘Overtime’ – featuring behind-the-scenes content, guest interviews, exclusive DreamHack footage and live interaction with viewers.

Talking about the partnership CEO of DreamHack, Marcus Lindmark, explained:

“We are extremely excited to sign this content partnership with Caffeine as we have followed their entry to the streaming market closely and been very excited about their new and innovative product offering.

“DreamHack and Caffeine share the same vision to make esports viewer experience more social and interactive. Their broadcasting platform creates new ways to consume esports content, and DreamHack can reach new fans and gamers globally with our distribution.”

Founder and CEO of Caffeine, Ben Keighran, commented:

“We are giving viewers a better way to experience DreamHack’s CS:GO and Dota 2 events. With our real-time video platform, DreamHack fans will now be able to experience these events as if they’re in the arena and with their friends online.”

AYO.NEWS says:

Just last week, AYO.NEWS reported that Fox Sports had landed US TV broadcast and streaming rights to FIFA 19 events, while Caffeine had secured global streaming rights (read more). While at the start of February, we reported that Ukraine-based esports organisation Natus Vincere had partnered with Caffeine (read more).

As we’ve said before, even with the backing of a media giant like 21st Century Fox, its still going to be challenging for Caffeine to break the dominance of giants like Twitch and YouTube, but its certainly going the right direction to try!
