ERIC TVETER BACKS LONDON-BASED VELOCE ESPORTS IN ANGEL FUNDING ROUND

London-based Veloce Esports has raised an unspecified amount in an angel funding round led by Eric Tveter, former Central Europe CEO at Liberty Global.

Veloce Esports was founded in June 2018 and has gone on to win several events and form partnerships with brands including Logitech G, Playseat and BenQ.

Specialising in racing esports, it currently fields teams in F1, Gran Turismo, Forza, Project Cars 2, DiRT Rally, Rocket League, FIFA, and DCL. The company also offers esports management and consultation services, and manages operations for the F1 team Alfa Romeo Racing and FA Racing – Fernando Alonso’s team (read more).

Commenting on the development Business Director of Veloce Esports, Rupert Svendsen-Cook, said:

“Whilst we’re racers at heart and love to win competitions, the real value in esports is in the viewership; that is where Veloce sits in a very strong position compared to anybody else in the industry. We could not ask for a more strategic and aligned investor in the media sector than Eric to take us towards our global expansion.”

Discussing his investment Tveter, who has also joined the board of Veloce Esports as its Chairman, said:

“I’m delighted to be joining this talented and dynamic leadership team as non-executive chairman to bring not just my senior leadership experience in startups, turnarounds, and other extremely competitive, high-growth markets, but also my extensive knowledge and relationships in the technology, media, and telecommunications industries that will shape the evolving esports landscape.”

AYO.NEWS says:

While we don’t have any idea how much Veloce raised in this round, they’ll certainly benefit from having access to the business acumen of Eric Tveter, and we’re sure it bodes well for future investment rounds too. Will Veloce branch out into more genres, or stay concentrated on racing?
