Gaming personality Imane “Pokimane” Anys has signed a multi-year exclusive streaming contract with Twitch.
The deal, brokered by United Talent Agency (UTA), will see 23-year-old Moroccan native return to stream exclusively on Twitch. No financial details have yet been made public.
Anys, who started streaming on Twitch back in 2013, now has 3.9 million followers on the platform, making her its most popular female streamer. Across all of her social accounts she has a staggering 17 million followers.
Commenting on the deal, Anys said:
“Since I began my gaming career on Twitch six years ago, the platform has given me such an incredible opportunity to create content and connect with people around the world.
“The community of streamers on Twitch, as well as the community I’ve built around my channel, both mean so much to me. I want to continue to make a lasting impact on the world of live streaming, and I truly believe there’s no other place that has the infrastructure and tools that will allow me to do so.”
While senior VP of content and partnerships at Twitch, Michael Aragon, added:
“Over the years, Pokimane has made significant contributions to the Twitch community and has become emblematic of the connection and experiences that Twitch is known for.
“Creators like Pokimane are driving the future of what’s possible with live streaming and speak to the way in which the Twitch platform has grown to reach new audiences. We couldn’t be more excited that Twitch will be her home for years to come.”
In addition to being popular for her gaming content, Anys has also won a special place in the hearts of millions by helping others, for example donating $50,000 to the University of California, Irvine, for esports associated student scholarships.
Twitch has lost a number of popular streamers recently, with Tyler “Ninja” Blevins, Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Soleil “Ewok” Wheeler being poached by Microsoft’s Mixer, Jack “Courage” Dunlop and Rachel “Valyrae” Hofstetter bailing and joining YouTube, and Jeremy “DisguisedToast” Wang defecting to Facebook.
But Twitch has been fighting back and Anys will be joining other star streamers like Benjamin “DrLupo” Lupo, Saqib “LIRIK” Zahid, and Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar, who also signed exclusive contracts with the platform last December.
