Riot Games has announced the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship for its popular auto battler title.

Though a launch date has not been confirmed yet, we do know the global championship will see 16 players battle it out for a USD $200,000 prize pool, and there will be regional qualifiers for North America, China, Europe, Brazil, South Korea, and Latin America.

Discussing the new competition Director of Global Esports at Riot Games, Whalen Rozelle, said:

“With the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship, we want to reward all of the players who dedicate their time to mastering Teamfight Tactics and provide an additional goal that exists beyond reaching the top of the ladder. To support this, we are creating a clear path to the Championship that will be globally accessible through both the in-game ladder and online tournaments.”

The specific format for qualifiers will be decided by each region, though Riot has said it will be a merit-based system allowing the highest skilled players to qualify for majors.

Three invitationals have been held by Riot Games for Teamfight Tactics since the title launched in 2019; the Elements Invitational, the 2019 League of Legends All-Star Event, and Galaxies Showcase.
