German betting operator Tipico has suspended its affiliate programme until further notice.
The operator’s website carried the following message:
“Information for all affiliate partners: Until further notice, Tipico’s affiliate programme will be suspended and no new registrations are possible.”
It is also being reported that Tipico, which is headquartered in Malta and is one of the largest sports betting and online casino operators in the German market, has enacted its quota term on all existing affiliates in an attempt to reduce overheads during the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis.
AYO.NEWS says:
With experts and politicians across the world now talking of a “new normal” in which, even where lockdowns ease, draconian restrictions will remain, possibly for years, the prospect of traditional sports returning on a large scale in the foreseeable future is looking increasingly unlikely. Given this, we’re not surprised to see operators like Tipico take drastic action to cut costs, and we expect many more will follow.
