The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has forced Clarion Gaming to postpone the ICE London 2021 Gaming Show. 

Though reports were circulating earlier today, Clarion Gaming has now officially confirmed that the world’s premier iGaming trade show, ICE London, has been postponed from February until 20-22 April 2021, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

Clarion Gaming was scheduled to hold a press conference tomorrow afternoon, but that has now been cancelled. The organisers said that, given the ongoing uncertainty, it would be tough to convince exhibitors to commit to a February event, and it would be challenging to hold the show safely while adhering to the current public health restrictions.

There’s also the not so small matter that London’s Excel Centre, which is the host venue of ICE London, is still currently re-purposed as a COVID-19 emergency hospital – and will likely remain so as the threat of a second wave of infections increases.

Earlier this week, Reed Exhibitions also confirmed that G2E Las Vegas, due to be held in Las Vegas in October 2020, has been cancelled.

Given the fact that cities, regions, and countries around the world are re-imposing lockdowns, and there are increasing signs that a second wave of infections is taking hold, this announcement shouldn’t be surprising. 

And, if we are totally honest, with experts in numerous countries now saying the crisis could last well into 2021, or even beyond, it must be doubtful that ICE London will happen in April.

Those organisers who are still planning to hold international industry events, like SiGMA in Malta, which has committed to going ahead with its flagship expo in November 2020, are looking increasingly out of touch with reality. 

As we previously reported, iGaming NEXT Malta has already confirmed it will not be holding any international events for the rest of 2020 due to the crisis.
