Overwolf has added support for the hugely popular Minecraft to its new CurseForge game mod app. 

Earlier this month, Overwolf launched the beta version of its new CurseForge app, with initial support for World of Warcraft. Now the platform has added support for massive sandbox game Minecraft, and a host of other titles. 

Overwolf acquired CurseForge from streaming giant Twitch in summer, with the aim of helping mod authors create better experiences and earn a living from their work. At the time, Overwolf had over 30,000 creators and carried more than 90,000 game mods and apps.

Available as a dedicated app for both PC and Mac, the new CurseForge app will initially offer similar functionality to the “mods” section inside the Twitch client, including discovering, downloading, and managing mods and addons. 

However, since it acquired CurseForge, Overwolf has made it clear that it aims to improve and expand the the app, and has developed a roadmap based on community feedback. 

Jared, creator of CraftTweaker, one of Minecraft’s must-have Modpack utilities, with over 65M downloads, and a fundamental part of over 10,000 modpacks, commented on the progress so far, saying:

“I was really impressed to see what Overwolf has done to CurseForge. I really like how it is just a mod manager, without any of the extra bloat. After testing the alpha, I’m really looking forward to the future of CurseForge and can’t wait to see where Overwolf takes it.”
