BEBOPBEE RAISES $2M TO PIONEER THE NEXT-GENERATION OF MATCH 3 PUZZLERS
BebopBee, a game development studio focused on the next-generation of casual entertainment, announced today it raised a $2M investment, with participation from BITKRAFT Ventures, 1Up Ventures, IGG Inc., and prominent angel investors Lei Ding, Founder of DFINITY, and Rohit Singal, Founder of Machine.ai.
The capital will be used to build cutting-edge LiveOps and execute on a robust marketing plan to further drive user acquisition.
Founded by former TinyCo, Zynga, and Jam City veterans Rajeev Nagpal, Cristian Zanier, and Anton Vikharev, BebopBee is on a mission to pioneer the next-generation of match 3 puzzle mobile games through creating a superior fun factor and highly shareable content.
The studio’s most recent game, What a Wonderful World, is a free-to-play (F2P) mobile game where players solve thousands of challenging puzzle adventures, travel the world, and meet locals with unique stories to tell. Innovative features include Tripstagram where players progress in the game to reveal artistic wonders like the Louvre museum in Paris or meet people like Scarlett Johansson in New York and learn about them via an artistically curated collection of quotes, images, and real-world videos.
The company plans to partner with popular influencers and content creators in key cities to blend virtual and real-world experiences and allow for unique user-generated content opportunities.
BebopBee also welcomes Danny Moy, currently Chief Strategy Officer at SciPlay Corporation, as an advisor. Most notably, Moy served in several senior business and operating roles over seven years at King, the creators of the popular mobile game Candy Crush.
Founder General Partner at BITKRAFT Ventures, Scott Rupp, commented:
“BebopBee has perfected the art of creating immersive, emotive, and highly-shareable experiences with their What a Wonderful World mobile game, which is only backed by the fact that players are engaging with their games almost an hour every day on average.
“We believe the team has created a game that has top-10 grossing potential with truly innovative marketability options.”
While BebopBee CEO, Rajeec Nagpal, added:
“At BebopBee we think deeply about how to build a company that endures the test of time. By combining differentiated storytelling, real-world association, and community-driven content we are able to architect mobile games that appeal to a broader audience in a timeless manner.
“We are thrilled to be able to partner with these prolific investors in order to continue to build out our live ops and amplify growth.”
AYO.NEWS says:
Considering the resources, both financial and in terms of talent and experience, that BebopBee now has at its disposal, we’re sure the studio will become one of those names synonymous with casual gaming. It’s also notable that the company is showing that casual games don’t have to be mind-numbing fluff relying solely on bright graphics and repetitive gameplay. Is casual going cultural?
