ENTHUSIAST GAMING ACQUIRES TABWIRE FOR $11M TO FACILITATE NEW SOCIAL NETWORK

Toronto-based media and content platform, Enthusiast Gaming, is set to acquire data platform Tabwire LLC for $11M USD, to facilitate the development of a subscription-based social network for gamers.

Code-named Project GG, the new social network is expected to emerge later this year.

Tabwire develops tools to allow players to track their game stats via a registered user profile. So far the company has created tools for popular titles including Riot’s VALORANT and Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege, and says it has amassed 13M active users.

Adrian Montgomery, CEO of Enthusiast Gaming commented: “The announcement of a unifying pan-Enthusiast social network with a premium subscription opportunity for gamers is a defining moment for us as our core GenZ and Millennial audiences have been moving away from traditional social networks and turning to gaming as an alternative.

“Tabwire marks an important milestone for Enthusiast Gaming to be able to bring Project GG to market later this year. It will provide us with essential data capabilities to deliver our customers a complete social offering with a more targeted, integrated and personalised experience for today’s gamer.”

Menashe Kestenbaum, Founder and President of Enthusiast Gaming added: “We are in a unique position to successfully execute our mission to build a true platform for a game agnostic social network. Our unique vantage point and distribution platform, that reaches over 300m gamers monthly, gives us unparalleled exposure to the full breadth of the gaming industry, from publishers to gaming media to influencers and esports teams.”

Enthusiast Gaming is the parent company of esports organisation Luminosity Gaming, which fields rosters in Apex Legends, Fortnite, VALORANT, Overwatch (Vancouver Titans), and Call of Duty (Seattle Surge), and has an expansive contingent of content creators.

Staying with Enthusiast Gaming, the company recently inked a partnership with short-form video platform TikTok.
