WAVERIDER & GALAXY RACER INK MERCH AND CONTENT PARTNERSHIP
New entertainment company Waverider and Dubai-based esports organisation Galaxy Racer (GXR) have announced a merchandise and content partnership.
The collaboration will tap Waverider’s expertise in design and storytelling to develop merchandise and concepts for GXR’s creators, including AboFlah, Dyler, and Naji Elqaq. Fans can look forward to a variety of products and experiences including merch, apparel, comic books, manga, and animation.
Waverider is led by CEO Arafaat Ali Khan, co-founder of Middle East Film & Comic Con – the region’s biggest pop culture event – and President Guenther Hake, an entertainment industry veteran who brings experience from powerhouses like the Walt Disney Company, Oriental Dreamworks, and MINDstyle.
The creative team at Waverider is led by Des Taylor, a UK-based artist with credits including creating art for DC Bombshells, Dr Who, Archie comics, and Star Trek.
Galaxy Racer is one of the world’s fastest growing esports and lifestyle companies in the world, and now boasts the biggest esports and content presence in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Its roster of 11 teams and 20 content creators gives it a reach of over 160 million followers and more than 1 billion monthly views.
Commenting on the partnership, Paul Roy, CEO of Galaxy Racer, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with a company with the leadership of Waverider. We’ve seen huge demand for a new style of consumer products and stories for our content creators, and their team has the vision and expertise to create something special for our roster’s fans.”
Arafaat Ali Khan, CEO of Waverider, added: “We’re really excited to be working with Galaxy Racer and it’s diverse set of creators to create products and stories that are not only authentic, but truly reflect the creators aesthetic, ethos and style. We’re confident that the fans will be seeing a side of these content creators that will blow their minds!”
AYO.NEWS says:
With its large young, tech savvy and wealthy population, the Middle East is proving fertile ground for esports organisations as they mature into fully-fledged lifestyle brands. Obviously, Galaxy Racer’s management appreciates the need for truly engaging, narrative-based content that can catalyse the brand’s growth into the wider entertainment space – and Waverider seems to be an ideal partner. We’re looking forward to seeing what comes from this.
