CHILIZ PARTNERS WITH LAGARDÈRE SPORTS TO PITCH SOCIOS.COM TO MORE EUROPEAN & US TEAMS

Chiliz has entered a strategic partnership with marketing agency Lagardère Sports and Entertainment, as it eyes more European and North American clubs and teams.

The Malta-based blockchain company, which runs the Socios.com fan token platform, is apparently keen to expand in both the United States and Europe – markets where Lagardère Sports has a strong presence.

Indeed, Lagardère’s network includes no fewer than six French soccer clubs and sixteen German teams – including exclusive agreements with Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV, Olympique Lyonnais, AS Saint Etienne and OGC Nice.

Chiliz is also looking to major US leagues including the National Football League (NFL) and Major League Baseball (MLB), and Lagardère represents a number of MLB and NFL players, including Eric Fisher, Terrell Suggs & Kendall Fuller from Superbowl Champions the Kansas City Chiefs.

Discussing the news CEO of Chiliz & Socios.com, Alexandre Dreyfus, said:

“We have been very clear in communicating our goal to onboard 50 IPs to the Socios.com app in 2020 and I look forward to working hand-in-hand with Lagardère Sports to help us achieve that target, targeting Lagardère’s extensive network of athletes, clubs, federations and sports leagues to build the future of fan engagement for rights holders across Europe and the US.”

While Lagardère Sports Chief Executive France, Laurent Moretti, added:

“We are proud to announce this strategic partnership with Socios.com. This agreement rewards our ability to project ourselves into the future and believe in the development of new technologies such as blockchain and crypto-currency. As a leading sports marketing agency, it is our duty to offer the best solutions to our clients and partners, and this partnership will contribute significantly to our vision.”

The Socios.com platform allows clubs and teams to launch their own fan tokens. The tokens, which will be tradable, allow fans to buy influence in their teams, taking part in exclusive polls, as well as earn special rewards, access unique merchandise and take part in special competitions.

AYO.NEWS says:

Just last week we reported that FC Barcelona had launched its fan token on Socios.com, joining other top-tier European football clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus. But clearly, getting major US league teams, which are often worth billions of dollars, signed up to the platform would take things to an entirely new level.
